Wolfgang’s Restaurant
German Cuisine
With a touch of Swiss
Wolfgang’s is one of those places you immediately feel comfortable in. Wolfgang or his lovely wife Myriam, welcome you at the door, immediately giving you an essence of the hospitality of the resaurant.
Wolfgang’s Restaurant is a small venue, tucked away in a small arcade in Bowral, somehow making this a very special ‘find.’ It’s fairly new, so at this stage, still a well kept secret - about to be discovered.
It’s a delightful place for a romantic evening or could be a fabulous venue for a social get together of friends, to enjoy the intimate environment this restaurant provides, along with a variety of food to tempt any palate.
Wolfgang opened this restaurant, wanting to give his diners the opportunity to savour the flavours of homecooked German and Swiss cuisine.
Savour the flavours, one does. The menu offers a variety of dishes. Beef Rolades, Vienna Schnitzel, barramundi, Pork Knuckle, and what is fast becoming a favourite of his diners is his rabbit dishes.
We started with Aubergine Bread. Its fine subtle flavours, doing exactly what a starter should do - entice the palate to want more! Delicious!
For entrees we shared Potato Dumplings, and Stuffed Mushrooms. As a child, my mother’s potato dumplings were a favourite. Eating these dumplings I knew why. The mushrooms in the accompanying creamy sauce was superb.
For mains we decided on the traditional Pork Knuckle with crunchy crackling, and served with the German’s favourite - Sauerkraut, delicious, sweet, braised Red cabbage, creamy mashed potato and German mustard.
I had Beef Rolades, another dish I remember from when I was a child. This dish consists of slow cooked, beef rolls, filled with bacon, carrot, leek and crutons, served with braised red cabbage and pan fried spaetzle, a small noodle/dumpling.
The flavours of these meals were delicious. Wolfgang’s past career as a flavourist, has resulted in food extremely pleasing to the palate. We began with a starter, and ate our way through to dessert and coffee, savouring every mouthful.
Wolfgang and Myriam are gracious hosts, and provide a menu to come back for regularly. Prices range from Entrees - all $12, and mains starting at $19.50 to $28.
Wolfgang is planning some interesting themes over the next few months. Next month he is planning ‘Fondues.’
Wolfgang’s is open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday
